Texas Counties Deliver

Welcome to Sabine County, Texas

To the Citizens of Sabine County:

Today Governor Abbott issued Executive Order GA-29 relating to the use of facing coverings.

The order states "Every person in Texas shall wear a face covering over the nose and mouth when inside a commercial entity or other building or space open to the public, or when in an outdoor public space, wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not in the same household".

In the order, it allows counties with less than twenty active cases to consider exclusion under provision eleven. As County Judge, I have filed the Exemption Form with Texas Dept. of Emergency Management, TDEM, to waive the mandate as we are under the threshold of twenty.  Currently Jasper/Newton Health District is reporting Sabine County having seven active cases as of 07/02/20.

Even though we have opted out, everyone's peace of mind and well being are of the utmost importance. To slow down the transmission of the virus, wearing of mask in public, social distancing, sanitizing and washing hands, along with avoiding crowds are all recommended.  We have faith that you, as an individual, will make proper decisions for yourself and others pertaining to COVID-19.

Update 07/08/20

Sabine County Hospital reported that they received 4 results over night and they were all negative. They also reported that they are waiting on 30 plus results.

Below you will see the numbers DSHS has for our 4 county region reported by Jasper Newton Health District.  For Sabine County the number of active cases can be misleading.  I feel the more accurate number will be closer to 8 active cases.  Reason being is, we have knowledge of 4 possible positive cases that have not been confirmed by Jasper Newton Health District at this time.  Its our understanding that each one of these possible positives were tested in another county. Being so it takes 7-10 days before our health district may get notified.

From the information above everyone needs to realize the virus is here in Sabine County and that we need to take precautions not to spread the virus.  If you have been exposed to someone positive please go test. The next protocol is go home and wait for your results, don't chance exposing others by being out in the community.

Please Pray for healing for all.

Update 07/08/20

In just the last 24 hours we added 6 new positives to our active list giving Sabine County 14 active cases. The Jasper Newton Health District has not received notification so their numbers will not reflect the current numbers we have.
